The March meeting and jam was another good one.  Thanks to all of you for showing your support.  We all hope the president Blanton Redding who missed the meeting due to the winter bug that has been going around gets back on his feet soon.

Everyone needs to mark Saturday, April 26th on their calendar and plan on coming to the 1st MGBA Bluegrass Festival and Barbeque at Sandy Beach Park on Lake Tobesofkee.  The fun starts at 2pm and continues until everyone gets tired.  Tickets are $10 per person and includes entrance to the park, a full barbeque meal, and all the pickin', grinnin', and singing you can stand.  Festivities begin at 2pm, barbeque meal at 5:30pm, with some great band entertainment following supper.  Mike Hinshaw has graciously agreed to furnish the ribs meal with potato salad.  Don't forget your lawn chairs.  Guaranteed to be a whole bunch of fun.  Bring your friends and neighbors.  If you have questions or want to purchase tickets, contact one of the officers under our contacts page

NOTE:  Our next meeting has changed dates - It will be on Thursday, February 21st.--------NOT the 14th !

I want to thank everybody that showed up for our January meeting and jam.  A very special thanks to the Saggy Bottom Boys and Darlin' for the opening mini-concert and for their long drive from South Georgia to be with us.

It was encouraging to have such a good turnout and to observe the positive attitude that was evident.  It was very good to have some new pickers, several who we have missed for quite a while, and a good gallery of spectators, who drifted in and out among the four different jam groups.

Morris Rowell is working on plans for MGBA to sponsor the Juliette Opry program on March 15th.  The details for this will be announced at the next meeting.

Since our next (February) meeting woud fall on St. Valentine's Day, we are sliding it to the next week and will meet on Thursday, February 21st instead.

We will resume the second Thursday in March unless you hear otherwise.

Happy Holidays to everyone.  We wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy and Prosporous New Year.

I want to apologize for the late updates to the website and information.  But I had a major computer crash and l;ost much of my information had to buy a new computer and do some work to retrieve the website info.  The good news is we are back on track.

New officers have been elected.  Congratulations to Blanton Redding, our new president.

We have started planning or 2008 meetings so stay tuned for more information.  Our location has changed back to the Porterfield Baptist Church for the time being.

We have also added a new jam to our website.  Thanks to Gary Collier and Ken Harper for letting us know about the Albany jam.  If you get a chance, you need to go check 'em out as well as Bob McGuinty and the folks in Rochelle.   Those folks really have a good time.

For all you banjo players, I have discovered teh Suwannee Banjo Camp that will occur March 21 -23, 2008.  It will take place at O'Leno State Park in High Springs Florida.  Bill Keith and Janet Davis will be doing some of the teaching there.  To find out more and check out the preliminary schedule take a look at their website at www.suwanneebanjocamp.com.

Merry Christmas,
